The Chairman (NAA)-cum-ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India, Shri B.N. Sharma, IAS, held a review meeting on anti-profiteering efforts at Mumbai on 4^th November 2019 with the senior officers of Mumbai CGST & CX Zone and Maharashtra State GST department.

In the meeting, the Chairman monitored the performance of the Maharashtra State Screening Committee on Anti-profiteering and the issues pertaining to its functioning. The Chairman emphasized the need for strict compliance of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), approved by the GST Council, by the GST field formations to ensure that the benefit of reduction of tax rates or benefit of ITC is being commensurately passed on to the consumers. He further added that any instance of non-compliance with the provisions of anti-profiteering should properly be inquired into and brought to the notice of NAA.
